About Sue

Creative Joyfulness Founder, Sue Pollard, has had a love of artisan art and crafts since childhood when her Mum bought her a handmade beanbag frog at a local maker’s market. It was cherished for many years and she still remembers the joy it brought.

After college she wanted to follow her love of creating art, but it was a common belief in those days that there was no future in it. So, her professional career began in Fleet Street as an editorial assistant at a national newspaper, before moving to the London Evening Standard and ES magazine where her love of story-telling continued.

Then a great opportunity came along, and her husband’s job took them on an adventure to Germany, where Sue put her career on hold and enjoyed looking after their two young children. However, one year became five until a second move took them on another adventure, this time to Sydney in 1999. They immediately fell in love with Australia and have called it home ever since.

Sue jumped back into magazines, with stints at Better Homes & Gardens and as Editor of a travel publication. However, that creative itch from years ago soon had her booking into creative courses and she decided to go freelance, writing a blog about artisans and selling her own greeting cards.

Sue’s thankful we now live in a world where creatives can start businesses from anywhere and make money doing what they love. But she believes the catch is, you still have to find them.

Sue combined her long-time love of art and crafts with her passion for storytelling and launched Creative Joyfulness. She hopes you also find beautiful handmade keepsakes, just like her little frog, that bring you joy for years to come!
